Theory of Poker Book Review
Posted by Curtom | July 7, 2008 | Posted in: Articles, Reviews, Strategy |David Sklansky is widely recognized in the poker world as the foremost mathematical authority in the game and gambling in general. He has written numerous books on gambling and the like. The Theory of Poker is a timeless book that puts the numbers to work for you and shows you when the percentages do and do not work in your favor. Pot odds, implied odds, explicit odds, and variation are all terms you will be familiar with after reading this book. This book covers most all forms of poker from Hold’em to RAZZ.
Sklansky takes poker strategy to an entirely different level. This is not a book about poker tournaments or how to win them. However, it is a book about why you are making the moves you make and from the position you make them in. It applies all of the mathematical variations used to derive your decision and why it makes sense.
No poker player should be without this book. It’s a must have!
