A Day in the Life of Curtom
Posted by Curtom | July 8, 2008 | Posted in: Articles, News, Tournament |I just got through playing the PokerStars 180 SnG. I finished 3rd for a nice cash. Nothing wrong with boosting the bankroll when you have the opportunity. I had a nice run early and then went card dead mid-way through the poker tournament. I ended up pushing my last $5000 in the middle against the big stack with [A][Q] and he called and flipped over [A][T]. I flopped the ace and the rest was history. I was able to double up again shortly thereafter when my [A][K] held up against [A][Q].
Basically I pretty much road on in from there and got the final table with a measly $20,000. Not that I am complaining but I really wanted to get there with $40,000 or better. I ended up watching all of the fire works going off around the table as stacks pushed all-in on just about every other hand. I thought I was in a shooting gallery for a second. I just hung on and stole a few blinds until I picked up a hand to double up again.
After we were down to the last five players I sat back again and watched the bullets fly. These guys were not folding anything. Players that had played very well at the final table made some really questionable moves and two more gut busted trying to bluff out another player holding the nutz. It was INSANE!
Once we got down to the final three I kept doubling up and treading water but I couldn’t get over the hump and finally I pushed with [Q][9] vs [A][5] and the flop came down {X][5][5].
I didn’t have a prayer. Overall it was a great final table and I didn’t leave anything on the table throughout the tournament. I won every pot I should have and of course a few hands with absolutely nothing at all.
I am still going to win that big one this year. It’s coming soon!
Trust me!
