Cards come in Cycles

Did you ever wonder why you tend to get certain hands for a while and then move on to another hand? It’s because cards come in cycles. If you play poker on a daily basis you may pick up [T][T] in what seems like regular intervals. It may last for an entire day or even a week but after a while it passes. You then begin to pick up [A][A] and then same pattern happens again.

It may sound strange but this is simply the normal variance in the deck swinging your way. Sometimes it moves in our direction for longer periods of time than normal. When it does take advantage of it and play your hands accordingly. On the other end of the spectrum you also need to realize that bad cards can be dealt the same way within these cycles as well. If you happen to be “cold decked” then it’s time to slow down at the tables for a while and allow the cycle to pass.

If you pay attention to these cycles you can increase your percentages of putting yourself in position to maximize on your good fortune.

I couldn’t agree with you any more here, there have been times where i just pick up pocket pair after pocket pair or hit flop after flop and i begin to think to myself how is this possible. But then there are also times when you can hardly win a hand, even when you do hit 2 pair or somethin someone ends up rivering you with a 4 card flush. So yeh variance is definitely a big part of the game and you need to know how to utilize it effectively in order to succeed as a long term poker player poker. Great Post!! Keep up the Good Work Curtom, speak to ya soon.
